All of us at I-92 WLWI love our pets, and know so many loving dogs and cats at the Humane Society of Elmore County would love to have their forever home with a loving family. That’s why we’re stepping up to create awareness with the Pet of the Week campaign.
Here’s our latest Pet of the Week! The shelter shares, “Percy is a 7 1/2-year-old Rottweiler/Coonhound boy whose owner loved him but due to circumstances was unable to keep him. Percy is a big chunk of boy – 140 lbs but also needs to lose some weight. He is housetrained, crate trained and great with other dogs, cats and children. Likes to sleep on the couch and loves attention. Percy is a giant lap dog and incredibly sweet. Why special needs – not really a big deal but Percy is on Thyroid Medication – takes 1 1/2 tabs of 1.0 mg Thyroid medicine/once a day. This is not an expensive med and tiny pills so super easy to give in food or a treat. Percy still has years of love to give so who will give this hunk of love a soft-landing spot for his remaining years.”
The adoption fees are $100 for dogs and $50 for cats under one-year-old; cats over one-year-old can be adopted by approved adopters for a fee of their choosing. This adoption fee completely covers the mandatory spay or neuter, basic immunizations, de-worming, microchip, heartworm check for dogs, rabies vaccination if old enough, free health exam with your participating veterinarian.
If you are interested in meeting the Pet of the Week or any of the shelter’s pets, the first step is the Adoption Application you can do here: https://elmorehumane.org/adoption-application-online-form2.html . Once approved, they will coordinate with you to set up an appointment to meet & adopt.
