2nd Annual Share The Road, Remembering Raymond Butler 5K

This Saturday, June 1st, it’s the 2nd Annual Share The Road, Remembering Raymond Butler 5K in Eclectic, Alabama! There’s also 1K, perfect for young kids or the young at heart looking for a shorter distance. The start and finish line will be in front of Elmore County High School.

The 5K will start at promptly at 7:45AM and the 1K will start as soon as the last 5K participants cross the finish line, which will be approximately 8:45AM.  If you are unable to attend in person, there is a virtual race option.

The race to remember Raymond Butler. Raymond was an avid cyclist, runner, canoeist, and overall athlete even at 74 years of age. He was riding his bike home from work on August 29, 2022 when 0.3 miles from his home he was struck by a car and succumbed to his massive internal injuries the next day.

Organizers invite you to join in by running or walking to remember Raymond and to raise awareness that roads are meant to be shared. Bikers have the same legal right as a vehicle to use the roadway therefore drivers need to watch for them and pass with care. Remember that just one second of distraction can take a life.

If you are unable to run or walk with us, they will gladly accept donations on this run sign up page.  Together we can make a difference.  Visit: RunSignUp.com (click here)
