Montgomery Half Marathon & 5K Canceled [OFFICIAL STATEMENT]

Event officials with the Montgomery Half Marathon & 5K have release an official statement regarding the cancellation of this year’s event. Read below.

“We have just been notified by the City of Montgomery, that due to the concern and rapid spread of the Coronavirus, the Montgomery Half Marathon & 5K and Expo will be canceled for 2020. We are as disappointed as you are, but fully support the City of Montgomery as they make difficult decisions that are best for the city at large and for our protection.

This year we went overboard with quality SWAG. The 100% cotton beach towel is one you will keep and use for years and the 12oz metal tumbler will be your coffee cup or wine glass of choice. The t-shirt is probably the best looking shirt we have offered, the medal is one of a kind and there is more. We want you to have this to enjoy.

We will have two opportunities for you to pick up your SWAG. We will be set up at Riverwalk Stadium this afternoon from noon until 6 pm. Then we will also have volunteers set up in front of Montgomery MultiSport (8107 Vaughn Road) on Saturday from 7 am- 11 am.

So take advantage of one of these opportunities to come by and get your SWAG bag, pick up your shirt (if you registered in time), and a finishers medal (pinkie promise to run either a 5K or 13.1 mile run in next 30 days). I hope you find this SWAG so excellent, it stands alone as something you would want to wear and use.

As this is a world-wide situation, and certainly out of anyone’s control, we cannot offer refunds for this race. The money brought in by sponsors and registrants has been spent on custom bags, custom medals, custom shirts, custom cups, custom towels and more. The money that was not spent on the event will be given to the regular charities the Montgomery Half Marathon & 5K support.

Everyone who registered for this year’s race will receive a 50% off code for next year’s event. I hope you will take advantage of the discount and enjoy your SWAG from this year’s race.”
