Gander Mountain Files Bankruptcy, 4 Alabama Stores Closing

The outdoor and sporting chain Gander Mountain has filed for bankruptcy protection on Friday, as it plans to close 32 under performing locations, including 4 in Alabama and sell the rest.

This comes on the heels of speculation and brings to question is the Montgomery store on East Boulevard on the closing the list? Unfortunately the answer, yes it is, along with 3 others in Alabama. Overall 32 of the 160 nationwide stores plan to close their doors for good in the near future.

The company released details on the bankruptcy filing and future plans in a statement.

Reports list these locations are slated for closure:

Alabama Closures (4) – Gadsden, Mobile, Montgomery, Tuscaloosa
Georgia Closures (3) – Augusta, McDonough, Snellville
Illinois Closures (3) – Champaign, Algonquin, Springfield
Indiana Closures (2) – Merrillville, Greenfield
Minnesota Closures (3) – Rogers, Mankato, Woodbury
New York Closures (1) – New Hartford
North Carolina Closures (2) – Raleigh, South Charlotte
Tennessee Closures (1) – Chattanooga
Texas Closures (10) – Houston, Killeen, Laredo, Lubbock, Round Rock, San Antonio, Sugar Land, Texarkana, Waco, West Houston
West Virginia Closures (1) – Charleston
Wisconsin Closures (2) – Eau Claire, Germantown
