Survey Says, the South’s Favorite Side Dish for Thanksgiving Is…

Ah, Thanksgiving a day of feasting on our favorites dishes. The center of attention is turkey. What about the side dishes, what is a must have on tables across the South?

Five Thirty Eight surveyed 931 people from around the country and broke out the results by regions.

Voted Top Side Dish

  • Northeast: Squash (I’d like to squash that idea)
  • Great Lakes: Rolls (great to have, but not that critical)
  • Upper Midwest: Green Bean Casserole (now, we’re talking)
  • Southwest: Cornbread (see rolls)
  • West: Salad (oh no, wasting valuable tummy space for carbs)
  • South: Mac and Cheese (give me a second helping of grandma’s secret recipe)

Don’t forget to save room for dessert! Everyone in the survey agrees pumpkin pie is a go to! Also voted for in the South pecan and potato pie. Is it pee-can or pe-kahn?
